Your Questions, Answered Honestly
How does the whole process work, from first enquiry to finished piece?
It’s pretty straightforward. You get in touch — by phone, email, or a message on social media — and we will have a chat about what you’re looking for. Based on your requirements we can then provide you with an estimate ( we do also have some standard sizes and prices on our website which is a great price guide ), once your happy with this we can then put together a design and a formal quote for you, once you’re happy to move forward a deposit then secures your build slot and we will then arrange your order for production at our Essex workshop. Everything is built by hand, so lead times vary, but we’ll always be upfront about timescales before you commit.
Do you offer a design consultation before I commit to anything?
Yes. We’d much rather you feel fully confident before any money changes hands. This can be arranged by either phone/email or you can book an appointment at our Brentwood factory to view some of the finished peices we have on display including a range of fire place media units. We’ll talk through your ideas, show you samples of wood, finishes, and door styles, and help you figure out what will actually work in your space. There’s no hard sell — if it’s not the right fit, we’ll tell you.
Are your pieces truly bespoke? and do you work from standard sizes?
Genuinely bespoke although we do offer a standard range of sizes too which are designed by our expert team. Every piece that’s either fully bespoke or standard size can be adapted around your exact space and requirements — That’s the whole point of coming to us rather than a high-street showroom.
Can I see examples of your previous work before deciding?
Absolutely — and this is one of the best reasons to follow us on Instagram and Facebook. We regularly post before-and-afters, workshop progress videos, and finished installs. You’ll get a very honest picture of the quality and the range of styles we work in. We also have a portfolio on our website.
How long will a piece from Farmhouse Furniture last?
With proper care, decades. That’s not a marketing claim — it’s the nature of solid timber joinery built properly. Some of the joinery styles we work in have been around for hundreds of years for a reason. You’re not buying something that’ll look tired in five years; you’re investing in something that will still be standing when you eventually sell your home.
Why choose a freestanding media wall over a built-in?
Our freestanding media walls are the smarter long-term investment in your home. Unlike a built-in unit that stays behind when you move, a freestanding piece is yours to keep — should you ever move home, it comes with you. You’re not leaving thousands of pounds of craftsmanship behind for the next owners. You’re investing in a piece of furniture that follows you, fits your next living room just as beautifully, and keeps adding value to your life wherever you go. On top of that, a handmade freestanding unit will outlast flat-pack alternatives by decades — its furniture built the way furniture used to be.
